These meeting spaces with on-site spas will help your team unwind after a long day.

By Joe Stych

After a long day of corporate meetings, lengthy seminars and long-winded speakers, your event-goers will definitely need to unwind. And let's face it: you and your clients or co-workers are overdue for some well-deserved pampering. Book your next event at one of these spa-resort combos, and your guests will be thanking you long after you've checked out.

Miraval Resort & Spa

Sitting on 400 acres of scenic Tucson terrain is the Miraval Arizona (pictured above), home to a sustainable style of living and an award-winning spa.

Stays at the Miraval are all-inclusive, which means that guests can take advantage of the spa's fitness and yoga classes, the 24-hour Body Mindfulness Center pool and can spend a $130 credit on golf, private consultations or spa services.

The spa offers a wide variety of treatments that employ natural ingredients. For example, the Hammam Ritual combines coffee, crushed almonds and lemon juice to create an exfoliating effect, and the use of organic lavender in the spa's Sweet Slumber treatment promotes relaxation and leaves skin soft. The most popular choice among spa-goers is the Qi Journey, where Thai massage and acupuncture are combined to release tension in the body.

If you're planning an event at the resort, all meeting group packages include a resort credit that can be put toward spa treatments, or planners can discuss creating a custom experience for their clients with the spa staff.

JW Marriott Camelback Arizona Spa & Golf Resort

The JW Marriott Camelback Arizona Spa & Golf Resort in Scottsdale just completed a $50 million renovation of their property, making this the perfect time to experience their event and spa features.

The most popular spa treatment is the Adobe Clay Purification Treatment. This selection takes advantage of the area's native herbs like sage, juniper and sandalwood, which creates a skin-nourishing effect when mixed with red adobe clay. The treatment begins with the exfoliation of the skin, and ends with the application of sage oil and a cup of peppermint-sage tea.

Nicole Gagnon, senior account executive for the Camelback, suggests that groups take advantage of the Healing Drum Circle experience. "It's a 45-minute outdoor sunset ritual that combines the repetitive, rhythmic beating of native drums with a guided meditation and smudging ritual to create an awareness of self and a sense of inner peace," Gagnon says. "Participants learn about the history of drumming as the beating continues." If you're interested, make sure to book early: all group bookings contracted ahead of the event are available at a discount.

Mii Amo Spa at Enchantment Resort

Nestled beneath the towering red rock formations of Boynton Canyon, the Enchantment Resort's Mii amo spa in Sedona offers guests a number of invigorating treatments.

The Native American-inspired haven features everything from a basic 60-minute Swedish massage to seven-night "journeys" that immerse guests in a total of 14 treatments over the course of a week. Groups staying at the resort can take advantage of group sessions at Mii amo-including guided meditation, vortex walks and yoga-put on by the spa's expert staff.

After linking up at the resort's more than 13,000 square feet of meeting space, Director of Communications Alison Lundberg suggests that groups check out Mii amo's Crystal Grotto, one of the resort's signature features. "The circle is a symbol of wholeness," Lundberg says, "and the Crystal Grotto is used as a place for meditation and affirming one's goals for the day."

Looking for a more intimate experience? Rejuvenating treatments can be booked individually or for small groups, including the exclusive Sedona Clay Wrap, which uses mineral-rich clay from the area to detoxify and soften skin.

The Golden Door Spa at the Boulders Resort

The Boulders Resort in Scottsdale is shrouded in the foothills of the Sonoran Desert, offering guests of the venue's Golden Door Spa a private setting to relax. With the convenience of 24 treatment rooms offering an extensive list of therapies, everyone in your group is sure to find something to indulge in at the 33,000-square-foot spa.

Set aside some time for the spa's signature treatment, the turquoise wrap, which is based on the Native American belief that the color turquoise signifies peace. For those seeking a more reflective experience, schedule a visit to the Meditation Labyrinth, which the resort describes as a "path to tranquility." Spa guests will also have access to the tea room, the Spa Café and an exclusive outdoor pool.

A number of outdoor activities are available through the resort to keep your group busy, including rock climbing, hot air ballooning and mountain biking. Custom spa packages to satisfy your group's needs can be created through a consultation with the spa staff.

The Willow Stream Spa at the Fairmont Scottsdale

Inspired by the peace and purpose of a sweeping stream, the 44,000-square-foot Willow Stream Spa at the Fairmont Scottsdale is completely committed to helping you find your energy.

The spa experience includes access to the rooftop area, adorned with an adult pool and a view of the McDowell Mountains, plus the use of the spa's fitness center, whirlpools, saunas, aromatherapy lounge, and steam room. Especially popular is the waterfall treatment area, where visitors can enjoy the relaxing flow of warm water. Treatments like the hydrating Body Quench and the mineral-rich Thalasso Kur wrap exemplify some of the rejuvenating activities available to guests after a meeting in the resort's flexible 22,500-square-foot Grand Ballroom.

One of Willow Stream's more exceptional options is the Havasupai Body Oasis Experience, a 120-minute adventure that begins with relaxation under lofty waterfalls followed by a Eucalyptus herbal bath and a warm oil massage.

The spa is open to any groups staying at the resort, but spa treatments are generally priced on a single-patron basis.

Arizona Grand Resort

A visit to Phoenix's 164-acre Arizona Grand Resort may be just what you need to take your event to the next level, and the 20,000-square-foot luxury spa will leave guests begging for more.

Account Executive Elle Shelley credits the venue's success to their exclusive spa services. "We're the only spa in the East Valley in Arizona," Shelley says, "and we use a lot of cleansing ingredients to enhance the experience."

One of their more famous treatments is the Lava Shell Massage (pictured right), where stress and tension are relieved through the application of heated tiger clam shells.

The Arizona Grand Resort also allows you to build a custom experience by combining a number of resort amenities into a group package. This option opens up a variety of choices for event activities, including group bookings at the spa, group access to the athletic facilities and admission to the Oasis Water Park. If you want to move offsite, the resort borders the 17,000-acre South Mountain Preserve, perfect for the outdoorsy type.

Tocaloma Spa at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort

The Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort in Phoenix compliments its 65,000 square feet of meeting space with the Tocaloma Spa, a true oasis in the steamy Arizona climate.

Here visitors can schedule a number of different experiences, including massage therapy, body wraps and various exfoliating treatments. For a novel experience, try Tocaloma's signature massage, aimed at relaxing the entire body during an 80-minute session. If you're feeling a bit more adventurous, ask for the Hungarian Moor Mud body wrap, a treatment legendary for its ability to soothe and rejuvenate tired muscles and joints.

Catering to a group? Michelle Moffard, the director of the spa, suggests contracting 50-minute massage and facial combos for attendees. Tocaloma also offers executive chair massage during group functions or in the meeting space.

Alvadora Spa at the Royal Palms Resort and Spa

With 119 guest rooms and 20,000 square feet of meeting space, the Royal Palms Resort and Spa in Phoenix offers a spacious and functional space for any indoor or outdoor event. And they don't skimp on entertainment, either: along with T. Cook's Restaurant, the resort offers scenic jeep tours of the Arizona region as well as a full-service spa.

Their signature treatments include the Royal Body Polish, which uses a chamomile and pumice mixture to soften skin and calm muscles, and the Orange Blossom Body Buff, which will aid in the restoration of the body's natural moisture through the use of the blossom's neroli oils.

In-room massage is also available, and planners can receive a discount on spa services when they book their group two weeks in advance.

Arizona Biltmore

When you enter Phoenix's Arizona Biltmore, the first thing you'll notice is the extravagant gold-leaf ceiling; it's second only to the Taj Mahal's in size. The Arizona Biltmore Spa is equally impressive. It is home to more than 25 exceptional treatments including the ever-popular Dream Catcher Aromatherapy Massage. This exclusive treatment is performed by applying oils and heated stones along the spine, which releases tension in the back.

Planning for a larger gathering? In the past, the Biltmore has organized group events like private hikes, bike tours and tennis tournaments upon request.

They currently offer stress management seminars, which Spa Director Carol Ford says are great for small groups that are taking on big challenges, and private fitness classes like Tai Chi and yoga that aid in calming the mind.

"We're always happy to get a little creative with the spa offerings to fit any budget," Ford says. "We need to ensure we bring a little spa to everyone."
