Paramour, which opened in August 2015, was designed by owner Martin Phipps to be an oasis in the Texas sky with attention to detail and topnotch service at the heart of the concept. The 8,000-square-foot property was one of San Antonio’s first rooftop venues and provides panoramic views of the city’s skyline. The bar is located just north of downtown, atop the Phipps Office building and overlooks the River Walk at 9th Street and Arden Grove.

A vaulted ceiling with exposed mechanical surfaces, such as conduit, pipes and duct work, along with distressed wood and modern décor, give the venue a contemporary industrial feel. The honey-toned onyx backlit bar and neon sign add to the ambiance. Large windows and the rooftop terrace offer sweeping views of both the city and the beautiful Texas sunsets.

The bar offers craft beer, wine, spirits and 20 signature cocktails, including the West Texas Tear Drop and the Fun Bag, a rumbased concoction served with a straw in a plastic bag. Establishing itself as more than just a bar, Paramour is open for breakfast every day of the week, serving local favorites such as egg in a hole, French toast, and biscuits and gravy. Later in the day, try the prosciutto sliders, focaccia pizza or a charcuterie board. For daytime client meetings or team brainstorming sessions, Paramour offers a variety fresh brewed premium coffees and complimentary Wi-Fi.

For private events, Paramour has a range of packages and services to suit almost any group or budget size. There are five different packages, such as The Night Out, which includes reserved seating for up to 10 people, and The Paramour, which is a complete buyout with two bars and full staff for up to 400 guests. These provide planners a full range of options for corporate events. Whether hosting a modest happy hour or full-blown party with live entertainment, packages can be adapted and customized to create a truly elevated event.

A catering menu provides an array of food choices from simple hors d’oeuvres to a full plated dinner, ranging in price from $18 to $35 per person. Kitchen staff will work with catering groups to meet the unique needs of each client. Additionally, the professional bartenders, hostesses and event staff at Paramour are available to assist planners in organizing and executing a successful and memorable business meeting, office party or corporate event.

“What sets Paramour apart as a venue is the versatility of the space. Whether the space is being used to accommodate a lavish party for 400 people or to create the feeling of an intimate night out, the quality of the overall experience at Paramour is not affected,” says Paramour Event Coordinator Mathilde Hergott. “Our team is remarkably attentive when it comes to taking care of our guests. We ensure that every detail is flawless, so attendees of all types of events can have the best possible experience while at Paramour.” paramourbar.com

With the opening of Spa Adolphus in fall 2016, The Adolphus Hotel now offers add-on packages to incorporate wellness into meetings and events. The Spa Adolphus Revive & Refresh breakout sessions, for example, provide short relaxation breaks—including on-site mini spa services, seated massage, or hydrating aromatherapy hand treatments—to ensure attendees can renew their focus for the duration of a meeting.
